The American company Dahon was founded in 1982 by Dr. David Hon, a physicist who had been working for 7 years in his garage on a project: a folding bicycle. His goal was and still is to convince as many people as possible to use bicycles as a regular means of transport in cities.

Once the prototype met their requirements, together with his partner and brother Henry, they looked for a location in Asia, specifically Taiwan, where they set up their first Dahon bicycle factory.

Two years later, they started mass production of the Dahon Da Bike model, which would become the strongest folding bicycle model on the market. Later, due to the great success of its folding bicycles, which currently occupy 60% of the folding bicycle market, Dahon opened factories in Shenzhen and Beijing to supply the Asian market and in Bulgaria, a strategic enclave for its European expansion.

In the 2010s, with a new brand strategy, Dahon decided to look for other types of cyclists while maintaining the intermodality offered by folding bikes as its hallmark.

Wheels of different sizes, variety of materials in the manufacture of their frames and multiple customization options have expanded the Dahon catalog to 28 different models. All of them always complying with the ideals of Dr. David Hon: environmentally friendly and healthy bicycles for people.

In its early days, the Dahon brand built its first base in Southern California, but later, Dahon founder Dr. Hon moved to Taiwan to build the American brand's first factory.

Today, Dahon's main bike production plant is located in China, specifically in the large metropolis of Shenzhen.

For more than 20 years, Dahon has been dedicated exclusively to making folding bikes. With the experience and manufacturing of folding bikes, they have managed to revolutionize the design of these bikes to the point of becoming the largest producer of folding bikes in the world.

They use their own patented hinge system that allows the frame and handlebars to fold perfectly in order to have a compact bike, very easy to store and transport.
