The Hed Ardennes Plus Track wheels offer great all round performance within a more budget minded cost. For racing or training alike the Ardennes Track wheels are strong, responsive and ultimately reliable. They are available in two guises, the first being for clincher tyres and the second option is for tubular tyres.
Both rims, clincher and tubular alike have an all black, anodised finish for a stealthy aesthetic with which to complete your track steed. Please note that this surface isn’t suitable for any type of rim braking.
The rims spin around the Sonic High Flange hub set which is specifically designed for track applications. This hub-set features ABEC 5 hi-grade stainless bearings to minimise friction to a minimum all the while offering a good level of longevity. Our track hubs are then compatible with threaded track cogs of Shimano 1.29” x 24 specification.
Stiffness and strength is integrated in to the wheelset with aero bladed spokes, hand laced and trued. Both front and rear wheels utilise 24 spokes built in a 2-cross pattern. This pattern, coupled with the high flanges on our “Sonic” track hubs ensures maximum wheel stiffness and efficiency even during all out track sprints under the most powerful riders.
Over the past 26 years Steve Hed has spent his energy developing the best cycling equipment available. When it comes to wheels, the end goal is simply to make them as fast as possible. It may sound easy but the journey to building the world's fastest wheels is a complicated one. In the pursuit of speed, Steve continually pushes the envelope to its fullest; no stone is left unturned. Hed is known for building the world's most aerodynamic wheels, a title that all wheel companies wish they could claim.
Most people do not realize that Hed goes a lot further than just aerodynamics to bring you the fastest wheels on earth. Other important issues such as tire performance, stability in crosswinds, lateral stiffness, drivetrain efficiency, durability, comfort, quality control, carbon fiber manipulation, and weight are also carefully considered. Each wheel addresses these aspects in different ways, and this is truly where the art of True Speed is born.
