How to choose the bike that best suits you

At Santafixie, we sell different types of bikes, and you can choose one based on how you plan to use it, as well as the type of bike and its features.

Our catalogue includes city bikes, gravel bikes, cyclocross bikes, fixie bikes and single-speed bikes. You can also find touring bikes, as well as models designed for different cycling disciplines.

When choosing your bike, you can also consider the material, gears, braking systems and bike size. Materials include aluminium and steel, while depending on the model, you can choose bikes with 1 gear, 6 gears or 7 gears and different braking systems, such as V-brakes, caliper brakes or mechanical disc brakes, and much more. Brands you can find in this category include Via Veneto, Csepel and FabricBike.

Fixie bikes

Fixie bikes have a fixed gear: one chainring, one sprocket and pedals that keep turning whenever the wheel turns, meaning you can also brake using the pedals. They should not be confused with single-speed bikes, which have just one gear but use a freewheel, allowing you to stop pedalling while the wheel continues to turn.

Using the pedals, you can move forwards, ride backwards and even brake by applying force in the opposite direction to your movement. They are lightweight and simple, and do not require frequent maintenance. Nowadays, fixies are the queens of the city streets.

Track bikes

Track bikes are performance bikes designed for professional use and competition. They are normally used in velodromes and on closed circuits.

Their frames can be made from different materials, such as steel and aluminium, or carbon if you are looking for a lighter bike. As a general rule, their design is more aerodynamic than that of a conventional city bike.

City bikes

City bikes stand out for their wide variety and versatility on the market. They are used every day all over the world and offer a sustainable, healthy and affordable means of transport, making them a favourite choice for many people.

They offer excellent comfort and component reliability. Their riding position is more forward-leaning than that of classic bikes. There are several types of city bike to choose from:

Commuter bikes

Commuter bikes are the main type of bike used for travelling to work. They are an easier, more agile and smarter alternative to the urban mobility problems faced by cities.

These bikes have a sophisticated design, offer agile handling and feature highly functional features.

Classic bikes

Classic bikes are designed for practical transport. They are used for short journeys, carrying goods or simply enjoying a wonderful ride around the city.

Classic bikes are also provided as a public service in some cities to expand transport services and help reduce pollution from vehicles and public transport.

Electric bikes

Electric bikes, also known as e-bikes, are equipped with an electric motor that supplements the power generated by the rider through pedalling.

There are different electric bike models designed to suit each person's needs.

Folding bikes

Folding bikes generally have 20-inch wheels. They feature hinges at various points on the bike so that it can be folded, helping to reduce its overall size.

Folding bikes can be taken into the office, carried on public transport and taken to places where a conventional bike cannot go.

Folding electric bikes

Folding electric bikes combine the features of electric bikes and folding bikes. They offer performance and convenience, thanks to how easily they can be transported and stored.

They are designed for riding around cities and on easily accessible terrain. They are an eco-friendly and affordable means of transport, and their electric motor does not pollute the environment because it produces no emissions.

Hybrid bikes

Hybrid bikes are highly versatile and can be used for different purposes, whether for training, riding around the city or simply commuting to work.

Most hybrid bikes can be fitted with mudguards and luggage racks.

Adventure bikes

Adventure bikes are primarily designed for travelling and discovering places along your route. You can take trips of any duration and distance, from short one-day journeys to week-long trips.

Gravel bikes

Gravel bikes are derived from cyclocross bikes. They combine features of road bikes and mountain bikes, allowing you to ride over rough terrain, forest tracks and gravel paths, as well as on the road. They look very similar to road bikes, but their geometry and components are adapted to let you ride across different types of terrain.

Cyclocross bikes

Cyclocross bikes are similar to road bikes, but feature a few changes to their design and geometry. They have wider tyres and are more robust and narrower, allowing greater manoeuvrability and helping you keep moving smoothly across all types of terrain. They are normally used for racing on closed circuits with varying terrain, whether natural or artificial.
