Toe Clips

Choose the right toe clips for your bicycle

Toe clips, also known as pedal cages, are components that are fitted to bicycle pedals to prevent your foot from slipping easily off the pedal and help you make pedalling easier and get the most out of your pedalling power. To choose the right ones, you need to consider compatibility with your pedals, the type of fastening you need and how you intend to use them.

You can also choose from different toe clip designs. Some models are simply toe cages that fit over the front of your cycling shoes. In this case, you should consider the size of the toe clip and make sure it matches the shape and size of your shoes. You can also find toe clips for bicycles that provide a more secure fit because they can be adjusted to fit your shoes.

Buying bicycle toe clips or toe clips with straps is a very good option for fixie and fixed-gear enthusiasts, as they will help you brake and skid more effectively while also providing greater pedalling efficiency. To use them, you need pedals that are compatible with this type of accessory.

Toe clip materials

Toe clips can be made from different materials, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your needs and your pedals.

Steel toe clips

Steel toe clips are very strong and durable. Bear in mind that steel is a heavy material, but it is a very good option for urban bicycles, as it offers an excellent appearance.

PVC toe clips

These are the most widely used toe clips across all cycling disciplines. They are lightweight and are made in a wide range of shapes, sizes and colours.

Toe clips with leather straps

The leather straps on toe clips provide an excellent hold on your feet. They are very elegant and ideal for a retro bicycle. You should consider their maintenance, as leather is a material that gets damaged very easily.

Toe clips with nylon straps

Toe clips fitted with nylon straps offer excellent strength and adjustability. One of the main features of nylon straps is that they are very durable.
